Great promotional live-action web series for Halo 4

Actually, I don’t own an Xbox nor have I ever played any game from the Halo series. But Microsoft’s latest promotional campaign in anticipation of its latest upcoming game Halo 4 is  exceptionally well done and extremely entertaining at that.

Showcasing the Halo Universe

Microsoft produced a mini live-action series about the beginnings of the Halo series’ backstory: Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. The theme is set in the distant space age where humans fight other humans and aliens in intergalactic battles. The web series is telling the story of cadets in a military academy and how war is suddenly disrupting their lives.

It tries highlight that games are not just mere shooting ranges but that there is in fact a whole universe of carefully created lore behind it. In case of Halo, there are in fact many books available on which the story is based on. There might even be a point where you could very well wish for a full feature length movie which would easily blow all those dull summer blockbusters right out of the water storyline-wise.

Quality Promotion

Other than that, the production value of the series is simply astounding for free-to-watch content on YouTube. The actors are good, starring celebrities like Anna Popplewell (The Chronicles of Narnia). The special effects are also polished and can very well outshine other full-blown TV series.

Advertisement like this helps create a more intense and immersive gaming experience while being able to stand as quality content on its own. This is promotion done right.

I definitely recommend you to check it out. The series will be set into 4 episodes. Parts 2 and 3 are already available — just follow the links below.
