NoteCraft Widget now in Samsung Appstore!

After a long and nail-biting time in the approval process, my first widget is now available in the Samsung Appstore: NoteCraft !

Accessibility and Simplicity

NoteCraft derived from my personal wish to better manage my notes: to be able to quickly take down notes, to edit them, to always have them with me. And all that without the mess of dozens of rotting sticky post-its everywhere in my purse, pocket or on my table, and without the chance of randomly losing one!

There is nothing like it

Available note applications didn’t stand up to my expectations. Many just try to simulate a single oversized post-it on your homescreen. Fancy but unfortunately very inpractical and space-wasting. Other solutions with a more productive notion were incorporated in a complete native application. Major drawback for those is that they need to be launched and loaded first before you are actually able to do anything at all with your notes.

What if a Million-$ business idea pops to your mind you immediately need to scribble down before it vaporizes the next second? Or you are on the middle of the street, and you need to watch for yourself that you don’t end up under cars or bumping street lanterns. You need to steer through layers of menus first and then have to wait for your app to be loaded.

That is where NoteCraft comes into play. NoteCraft is designed on the one idea:

Keeping it real simple

NoteCraft is a powerful lightweight Widget to manage all your notes.

The purpose of NoteCraft is to grant you lightning-fast access to and control over your personal notes. Thanks to the Widget Homescreen concept, information is served to you in an instant, without any further user input or loading delay. The functional minimalistic and space-saving design helps you to see all your notes in just one glimpse.

Fast and Full Control

Write a meaningful and reminding title and add a detailed description. Scroll through the list and extend the Notes to show its additional info. Add as many notes as you want, change title and description or delete old ones – your choice!

No more Pen-and-Paper management necessary, you just get all on your phone, always with you! Remind yourself of important appointments – add locations and addresses as description – write your train’s schedule – your shopping- or task list. It’s up to you how and what you manage!

Bleeding-Edge Technology

NoteCraft is extremely lightweight and resource-saving thanks to javascript and CSS3 enhanced animations that support a cohesive user experience and intuitive control. Your notes are persistently stored in your phone’s memory for your joyful long-term user experience.

NoteCraft is now globally available on the Samsung Appstore for €1.99.

I’m continuously working  on NoteCraft to make it even more intuitive and productive. I will keep you posted on coming updates!

I love Feedback!

Hi there, I have just bought your Notecraft app and am finding it really useful. I was wondering if in a future update you would be able to include a feature to rearrange the order of your notes? P.S. just downloaded your meteor clock widget, love it!
Cheers

Hello Mark, thanks for your Feedback!
‘Custom note order’ is much requested and a guaranteed feature I will implement as soon as possible. Currently I’m working on a flexible data structure to prepare for that and other functions planned. It will take a bit, though, until its up and running.

Hi Jorn.

Notecraft looks great but it’s missing a feature that I’m really searching for.

I find the included calender in my Wave limiting. It will remind me of something, sure, but only in one way with vibrations and sound going on and on. I want something more discreet and customizable. I also want something lean and widget based, that has the function of notes/tasks, but also shows itself to me on it’s own to remind of my…umm..reminders.

My goal (and what I had on my old phone) is to be able to take notes during the day and then have them come up on the screen in the morning – when I unlocked my phone, there they were. I could say what time I wanted them to come up. On my old phone, this was the calender, because along with a heavily alarmed “meeting” function (similar to Bada’s current calender), it had a “reminder” function. Essentially, when the time/date was reached, the note would be displayed on the screen until you pushed a button saying “go away”. There was a discreet beep.

If I put down several things all with the same time/date, as I pushed “go away” for the first one BEEP the next would display.

Meanwhile, in most note programs, if I want to write some reminders for myself I have to remember to go look at them. Not enough.

So, it would be great if Notecraft had a customizable alarm function.

If it did, because of the way you have already developed it, it could operate as a very nice daily agenda. When the alarm time/date is reached, Notecraft would alert in a way that is set by the user:

option 1: widget is activated such that next time the phone is unlocked you see the widget with this note at the top – other non-alarmed notes below as you have them now

option 2: as above, but with a discreet bell and single vibration

option 3: an alarm more like the calender alarm – it keeps going on and getting louder until you shut it off

When the widget displays, the notes could be ordered by their alarm date – think of the daily agenda possibilities!

Bonus functionality: either a single alert, or check the “repeat alert” button and the alert comes back every hour/day/whatever until you check it off.

Thanks for taking feedback and good luck!

Dave

wow, thanks for your thorough feedback, David! You have some very interesting and sophisticated suggestions there.

I am planning to work into a similar direction, so that notes can be given far more information than simple Title and Description but also attributes like Dates and Priority, which will provide many more possibilities for features. Everything is still at a very early stage, though, so it will take a while to see solid results.

I’ve noted your suggestions. They’ll help me in development of new functions and ideas.
Great feedback, thank you!

Hey, this is the best task widget I’ve seen so far for the Wave. 2 T-up!!! :D
Can I recommend something? I also love your MeteorClock app, and I was wondering if you can have an alternate size for NoteCraft… a shorter one… so that both MeteorClock and NoteCraft fit in one screen. A little adjustment on the font size and buttons to compensate for the size reduction. And the corners are curved not straight, so that it looks smoother. Everything else is already awesome. Thanks a lot :D

Hey Etherion, glad you like NoteCraft! Also, thanks for your suggestions, always like feedback!

I won’t provide alternative widget sizes for NoteCraft, though. There are multiple reasons: the NoteCraft interface needs alot of space, optimizing sizes just for MeteorClock probably won’t work for most other, yet similar dimensioned widgets. I also have the opinion that NoteCraft forms a closed unit for note management and should deserve its own homescreen ;) Especially for using as much screen estate as possible to display information.

For the rounded corners matter, I can give you a guaranteed positive for the coming big update. I even tweeted some work-in-progress teasers: http://bit.ly/fpIaSj , http://bit.ly/iiQ9lZ

this is a great widget but there is a problem with it on bada 1.2….the return key does not work..its greyed out..any chance you could correct that? thanx a lot.

Hello himadri! I’m aware of the issue with the return key. Unfortunately, Samsung screwed up here and disabled it in bada 1.2 – so I won’t be able to do anything about that in particular. But for the next big NoteCraft update, I’ll provide a work-around, so you still can create line breaks.
